I thought i could not be impressed that easily by any upscale studio after having been to delight yoga.
At Yoga fest studio I was impressed.
Everything is in place, neat and well thought through. The location of course helps a lot. An ancient house with beautiful structures and great rooms to practice. Even an attached cafe to hang out and eat or drink in style is there.
I did a fun Vinyasa flow with Maddy Landi who made us sweat in the amazing attic room overlooking Westerpark.
Originally from Miami, he made us flow through the postures in an easy going and fun way. Explaining the poses with patience and pushing us to last in poses a bit longer every now and then.
In general the studio tries to follow an approach that is a bit more easy going/contemporary and not too much stuck to old traditions while still keeping them in mind. Not an easy task but they bring some fresh wind to the yoga game through collaborations with nike and naming classes and activities as they feel it sounds right.
This combined with a super neat and professional setup and team, makes a great combination.
The owner told me that they keep looking for young and talented teachers that find skilled but yet fresh approaches towards yoga. She has an amazing network of good guest teachers through her annual yoga festival that is also hosted at Westerpark. A round story I would say and for sure a lot to come from this corner of town. I’m in love.
Location: 1 Studio with various rooms great showers, a store and a cafe in the entrance of westerpark
Styles: Anything from Vinyasa flow, to classic Ashtanga (also Mysore, unguided classes) and Hatha classes but also meditation and yin classes. They alternatively also offer Pilates and Core flow classes. And what I personally find cool are classes specially for kids.
Costs: 15,- per drop-in Session // 75,- monthly and a smart alternative if you have time during the day: 45,- for the cheapest monthly all you can yoga between 9.30 and 18.00.
My Favorite Teachers: So far I only met Maddy who is a blast while still serious about what he is doing. Listening to the stories about the other teachers gives me the feeling that this list will become longer soon.
Extras: Always free water and tea, a lot of extra workshops and teacher trainings…haven’t tried those…yet. Also always some cool products to test and checkout.
